Currency/Bite

A Bite is a unit of currency.

When humans trade with the orc clans, they tend to have very different values, especially in what things they find useful. Orcs tend to have very little value in gold, and humans tend not to value the iron coins orcs tend to use to trade amongst themselves. Therefore, the orc clans will carve small bone coins, typically carved from the bones of deer or horses, but rumours always persist that some are carved from the bones of their kin.

A single bite is typically carved into a small disk, with a clan-specific pattern around the edges, and then a rune belonging to the issuing Hussar carved into the face of the coin. The city accepting the coins will then carve a rune into the tails side of the coin, this will make the bite an accepted coin in the city, their value dictated by the relationship between the city and the clan.

Their actual value is typically about the same as a single sigloi for accounting reasons.
