The Confessor Church

The Confessor Church is a church dedicated to the god Asmoundal. The Church is outlawed in many cities, however a small black market cult lives there despite this, often affiliated with Theives Guilds or companies of Bandits.

The Confessors act as, usually itinerant, priests who will take the sins of anyone not in the rights with their deity. They exclusively will take the sins of those who are following the deities of Civilization or Weal, since only those sins are useful to them. The service they grant is good and well done, and many have entered paradise due to the actions of a Confessor.

The Confessor must sit with the Sinner and the Sinner must list their sins, one at a time. This process can take several minutes but could take an hour or more for Sinners. The Confessor's Faith then turns the Words of Sin into coins.

The secret is that the Confessors can use these sins as currency. The Daemons often will view some sins as valuable, as they would any valuable metal, due to their alignment with that sin. For example, a daemon of slaughter might take a Murder Coin to perform a service (often leaving). The dark part of this is that some priests can use Sin Coins to allow them to work their magic on non-believers and heathens, and some dark summons have used them to impove their bargains with the summoned.
