The mark is a unit of currency.

The Viper's Gate Thieves Guild is well acquainted with counterfeiting and currency manipulation, so why would they put their assets at risk? Instead of coin, the Guild pays its members (and anyone they sufficiently trust) in Marks - doodads that have been Charmed to grow warm against a verifying stone. Only select higher-ups have a verifier. The Guild accepts Marks as payment for their goods and services, but at their own discretion.

Things that might be made into Marks:

  • bits: things with a pointy bit (needle, nail, etc.)
  • flips: flat things (wood chip, piece of slate, skipping stone, leaf, etc.); worth 2 bits
  • balls: anything more three-dimensional (generic rock, die, marble, etc.); worth 5 bits
